Arriving to Kaunas airport

Wizz Air, Ryanair and LOT, as well as some charter flight companies, fly to and from Kaunas international airport. It is located in the central part of the country, 14 km northeast of the Kaunas city centre and 100 km west from the capital Vilnius.

Reaching Kaunas city centre:

  • By bus. Hop in the city bus #29G (its timetable is adjusted to the arrivals schedule) to reach the city centre for the most affordable price – 1 Eur!
  • Going by taxi. You can also reach the city centre or other parts of Kaunas by taxi. Kaunas Airport approved taxi rank can be found just in front of the arrivals terminal. All taxi cabs accept cash and credit cards. Always ask for a printed receipt at the end of the trip!
  • Using Bolt app. You can also download Bolt app and get competitive pricing for your traveling. It is also very convenient for you to move around the city. Here’s a discount code for first-time users – KAUNASIN. Enter it when registering the app and save 7 Eur!
  • Using CityBee car-sharing app which offers plenty of cars that you can pick up and drop off in dozens of places around the city.

  Arriving to Vilnius airport

Vilnius Airport is the main international airport in Lithuania with permanent luggage storage, currency exchange at the arrival hall, cafes and 2 airport hotels nearby. Kaunas is situated only around 100 km away from Vilnius and therefore there are many ways to reach it by bus, train, taxi or car sharing services.

  Reaching Kaunas from Vilnius airport

  • Using Bolt app. The price would be around 70 EUR-90 EUR.
  • Booking a taxi using www.etaksi.lt/en
  • Taking the taxi near the airport. However, at the beginning of the trip we advise you to ask the driver for the price and ask for a receipt.
  • Bus for late-evening flights: you can also use Ollex transportation services on the route Vilnius Airport – Kaunas. You can book a ticket from Kaunas to Vilnius Airport as well. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Their price is around 15 EUR. The benefit of Ollex is that it offers direct transportation from Vilnius Airport to Kaunas for night flights, but the ticket must be booked in advance and availability is very limited. When in Kaunas, you will have to complete your trip to the hotel with a taxi / Bolt.
  • CityBee car-sharing app offers plenty of cars that you can pick up and drop off in dozens of places around the city.
  • Going to the Vilnius bus/train stations (they are next to each other) and then taking a bus or train to Kaunas. Train and bus ticket costs around 8-10 EUR. Check the bus routes, prices and exact timetables at: www.autobusubilietai.lt Train departures are not very frequent (tickets are sold at the tickets office in the train station or online). You can check train routes and timetables at: Itglink.It/en

Accommodation

The easiest way to book your accommodation in Kaunas is using Booking or Airbnb where you will find a variety of wonderful places to stay while visiting Kaunas.

We would recommend to stay in the city centre because there is the biggest number of hotels for different budgets and needs, and the location is very convenient to reach the campus. Busses going from the city centre (bus stop “Studentų skveras”) to the main campus are numbers 40 and 37 (bus stop “Studentų gatvė”).

Below you may find some of the hotels that we recommend:

FRIDAY MAY 30

9:00-10:30 “From Reluctance to Readiness: getting companies on board with inclusive internships”

Maarten Brand, internship expert and author, Bureau Brand, (The Netherlands)

A lot of companies hesitate when it comes to diversity in internships, sometimes because of bias, sometimes because they think it’s too much effort. This session is all about giving coordinators practical tools to change that mindset and show businesses that inclusive internships aren’t just the right thing to do; they’re a smart investment.

The participants will get:

  • Clear arguments for the business case: how diversity benefits companies in terms of talent, innovation, and long-term hiring.
  • How to counter common excuses like “We just hire the best person” or “We don’t get diverse applicants.”
  • Bias spotting & fixing: From job descriptions to interviews, how to remove barriers without lowering the bar.
  • How to audit a company’s inclusivity remotely: Ideal for coordinators working with international placements.
  • Actionable steps they can implement immediately: No fluff, just practical strategies that work.

How It’ll Work:

  • Interactive (but not scary)—quick polls, pair-and-share exercises, and real-worldexamples.
  • Hands-on tools: I’ss make a simple Bias & Remote Audit Toolkit coordinators can use right away.
  • Designed for coordinators who struggle to get companies on board—so they leave with confidence and a game plan.
